The Santa Clara County Library District Foundation is set up to provide support for the Santa Clara County Library District.
Today’s public libraries provide free learning opportunities to all ages, from lending books to providing online tutors for students. The library serves as the community’s informal learning place — whether you are a child learning to read, a student struggling to read, an individual looking to improve job skills, or wanting to use a computer. The Library is an open place of ideas that enriches our community life.
Our mission is to raise funds to support the Santa Clara County Library District which serves the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Saratoga and the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County. Funding supports district-wide services such as bookmobile services, the Reading Program, innovation, and works to extend services to underserved areas.
For 2016-2017, The Foundation seeks to fund two initiatives:
- A books and lunch summer learning program through the bookmobile targeted to children in need who do not live close to a physical library; and
- Eliminate the Reading Program’s current wait time of 3-6 months for adults who want to learn to read. The Reading Program matches trained a trained volunteer tutor to an individual learner.
